Hey Everyone,

As you may know, we are heading down to compete in the American National Poetry Slam Championships in a few short weeks, and have been writing and practicing like madwomen. We are very excited to launch our first team showcase on Monday July 27th at Clinton’s (9:00 pm), and hope you can make it out to support our efforts to represent Canada at this huge competition. On top of the team showcase, we will also be hosting a silent auction filled with a ton of prizes (dinners for two at awesome local restaurants, gift baskets, book store certificates etc). If you have any connections or resources that might help us raise some of the necessary funding, please make sure to drop us a line. We really appreciate it!! In the absence of hook ups, however, we would love to see your lovely faces out on July 27th. We can promise a great night and a big show, filled with new team and individual pieces, as well as surprise performances by wicked local poets. Hope to see you!!!

We are also thrilled to be taking part in the Eden Mills Writers Festival (a top-notch literary festival in Ontario). This year, 4Women has been invited to square off against the Guelph Poetry Slam Team. If you are free on Sunday September 20, Eden Mills is around an hour or so outside Toronto. We’re slated to perform around 4:30 pm, but try and make it for the whole festival if you can; there are some amazing writers out and about (see http://www.edenmillswritersfestival.ca/ for details).

Hope everyone is out looking for sunshine…

Let us know when you find it! ;)

On April 28, 2009 Toronto Poetry Slam came together and changed the course of history. Ariel Platt, Kimiko Carter, Truth Is? & Lara Bozabalian (Tomy Bewick, alt.) finished in the top four spots of the TPS season, and became Canada’s first all women poetry slam team. Four Women are working to create poetry that will break down walls, inspire dance moves, and beget dialogues. Welcome.
